From the 14th until the 17th of October, 2015 the Prague Congress Centre hosted gathering of the year in the field of paediatric urology with more than 1100 participants from 68 countries - 26th Congress of the European Society for Paediatric Urology (ESPU 2015). One of the main topics of this world congress was children bedwetting. The aim was to point out this serious dysfunction, which bothers up to 15 percent of five year old children.
The prestigious Annual ESPU Congress was held in Prague for the first time. It was exceptionally organized as a joint meeting of the European Society for Paediatric Urology and the American Academy of Paediatrics and the International Children’s Continence Society.
The scientific topics of ESPU consisted of children and adolescents kidney diseases, urinary tract and genital tract problems. The peak of the congress was a joint discussion focused on functional urination disorders, with special emphasis on the most common problem - to bedwetting. “The purpose of organising the “Bedwetting Day” is to make it known to the general public and parents that the disorder can be treated effectively.” referred doc. Radim Kočvara from the Department of Paediatric Urology in the First Faculty of Medicine, Charles University and the general University Hospital in Prague, who was also a local organiser of ESPU 2016.
