The Particle Therapy Co-Operative Group (PTCOG), founded in 1985, is a non-profit worldwide organization uniting both scientists and professionals interested in proton, light ion and heavy charged particle radiotherapy. The ultimate goal of the PTCOG is to improve cancer treatment so that it meets the highest possible standards in radiation therapy. The 56th Annual Conference of the Particle Therapy Cooperative Group (PTCOG 56) held in May 2017 was an instrument tool in achieving this goal. More than 1100 delegates met in the stunning city of Yokohama.
PTCOG 56 is of particular importance to C-IN as it marks the beginning of a transitional period towards providing a full range of Core PCO services on a longterm basis to PTCOG. In cooperation with the local Japanese hosts and PTCOG, C-IN organised the scientific program, abstract management, sponsorship and exhibition, the conference app and consultancy from our experience of PTCOG55.
