The significant chemist with Czech origin Prof. Růžička was awarded during the Flow Analysis XIII.

The triennial international conference Flow Analysis was held on July 5 - 10, 2015 in Diplomat Hotel Prague, organised by the Charles University in Prague, Faculty of Pharmacy. During the opening ceremony the eminent international scientist Prof. RNDr. Jaromír Růžička, Ph.D. was awarded by the Rector of the Charles University in Prague.

Since its foundation in 1979, the Flow Analysis conference has developed into a forum for a meeting of scientists involved in all aspects of flow methods and related techniques, regarding both basic science and applications in biomedical, pharmaceutical, environmental and food analysis.

The role of the president of this year´s conference was taken over by Prof. RNDr. Petr Solich, CSc., the Head of the Department of Analytical Chemistry and investigator of more than 25 research grants from different areas (pharmaceutical, bioanalytical, environmental) received from different science foundations.

The Scientific Committee and the professional conference organizers, C-IN company, prepared a balanced programme with many high grade presentations and lectures. They also did their best to offer delegates an attractive social program. During the conference dinner or guided tours organized for both delegates and accompanying persons, everyone had opportunity to spend their free time in Prague enjoyably.

On the occasion of the opening ceremony, Prof. RNDr. Jaromír Ružička, Ph.D. was awarded with a gold medal of the  Charles University in Prague for his contribution to the development of modern analytical chemistry and for the significant support of the international prestige of Charles University in Prague. He received the award personally from the hands of the Rector of Charles University Prof. MD. Tomáš Zima, Ph.D., MBA.

Prof. Růžička graduated from analytical chemistry at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics at Charles University in Prague. In 1968 prof. Růžička emigrated abroad, where he had worked at the Danish Technical University in Copenhagen until 1987 and together with prof. Elo Hansen has developed an entirely new method of analysis, called Flow injection analysis (FIA).

Prof. Růžička currently participates in a group of chemical oceanographers at the University of Hawaii at Manoa in Honolulu, USA, where he coordinates the international collaboration between analytical chemists and oceanographers.

Thanks to the support of Prof. Růžička, the Department of Analytical Chemistry at the Faculty of Pharmacy UK became a major research institute focused on the development of automated flow analytical methods with high international reputation.

The C-IN team is glad to contribute with their services to the success of this scientific conference, which is a field that Czech scientists excel in amongst the global competition.

Growing your Association´s membership base: Communication is key

Business News | April 01, 2020

It goes without saying that the membership curve grows faster if the association holds a congress in that given year. Discounted registration fees and other benefits are an easy attraction. But what if the conference is held every two or even three years? The expectations for the number of members are logically lower, but one should not simply disregard this as a non-congress year.
