Interns from American universities joined our C-IN team

In cooperation with EUSA - Academic Internships Experts , we are annually inviting students from American universities to join our office for an internship. This year we had the pleasure to welcome two students. Austin Truitt who studies Interdisciplinary studies at Arizona State University in Tempe joined C-IN in late May and Juliana Garcia, a journalism student from University of Kansas, who started working in our team in mid-June.
They worked on various projects and were involved in both pre-conference agendas and onsite work. As we had some important conferences to organize in July, Austin and Juliana worked mainly on those, namely biochemistry congress FEBS and IACAPAP conference dealing with child and adolescent psychiatry.
They prepared conference badges and worked onsite at the registration desk. They also had the opportunity to work in the Scientific department where they helped with conference programmes. Everyday email communication, writing web articles and language correction were part of their remit as well.
Thus, they tried a broad range of tasks connected to event management and took a peek at many different aspects of conference organisation.
We hope they spent a lovely time in Prague and gained much experience in the field of event management. We wish them all the best for upcoming years and we are certainly looking forward to welcome new interns next year.

Growing your Association´s membership base: Communication is key
It goes without saying that the membership curve grows faster if the association holds a congress in that given year. Discounted registration fees and other benefits are an easy attraction. But what if the conference is held every two or even three years? The expectations for the number of members are logically lower, but one should not simply disregard this as a non-congress year.

During this uneasy time of the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, the meetings industry, amongst many others, is taking a hard hit.
