C-IN WORKSHOP 2012
„Rethinking Conferences in Health Science & Technology“
C-IN organised its first Workshop „Rethinking Conferences in Health Science & Technology" at the conference centre of the Institute of Molecular Genetics AS CR in Prague, Czech Republic. The purpose of this Workshop had two key features: First, to inform the participants of news regarding conferential technology and infrastructure. Information related to new design methods, which were meant to match delegate and industry expectations, were discussed. The second main point was to discuss how new developments in the realms of science and technology are affecting the evolution of congresses. These developments could even cause the establishment, development and termination of congresses. Six distiguished scientists, two international association directors and the director of the Prague Convention Bureau presented and shared their expertise and opinion. New scientific disciplines in laser physics, synthetic biology, advances in genetics, cyber medicine and aeronautics are just a few fields which display the enormous potential of this meeting.
On the other hand, problems such as how to tackle barriers like safety standards, fixed rules of candidacy, regulations, budgets, etc were also discussed. As a result of the interactive debate, the workshop outcome strengthened our insight in exploring new business development implementations regarding congresses and conferences. Another vital outcome was the strengthening of the cooperation between congress events and scientific organisations.
The Workshop was followed by a reception and a VIP Dinner.
The feedback received from participants and speakers was very positive and ecouraged us to repeat this initiative next year at the end of October. The topic will be „Telecommunication". The reasoning behind this is the fact that Prague is the headquarters of the navigation systém „Galileo", the effort to organize the World ITS Congress (Intelligent Transport Systems), the Aerospace and Defence European Convention and the expected opening of the Governmental Czech Space Agency.
