26th IUGG General Assembly announces more than 5 650 received abstract submissions!

Only a couple of hours have passed since the submission deadline, however for the past several weeks members of the C-IN Scientific Department have strenuously been processing the large flow of of abstracts from delegates all around the world. So far they have received and processed 5656 abstracts. This is historicaly the highest amount for a single congress. For comparison, the number of abstracts received for all events in 2014, which summed up to 3000.

The high quantity and quality of the abstracts implies the attendance of the congress itself, which will be held in the Prague Congress Centre at the turn of June and July 2015. The whole IUGG 2015 team cooperating on this major event of the year expects that the final number of delegates will exceed the limit of 6 000. Such a massive event has been experienced in Praguebefore during the EADV congress in 2012, for which C-IN provided complete PCO service.

In organizational terms, the IUGG General Assembly represents a variety of challenges. First, it was necessary to coordinate the newly extended Scientific and Registration Departments, which have to simultaneously cover another 6 projects under C-IN´s organization. Secondly, for this occasion, a new generation of the registration system was implemented which meets the requirements of this highly demanding event. Consequently, additional adjustments of the system were developed in collaboration of the C-IN IT team and experts from COVr. The final improvements will serve mainly for smoother abstract submission, registration process, hotel accommodation and more.
